Reckon | The Whole World's a Stage

"Civilization is entirely the product of phonetic literacy. As it dissolves with the electronic revolution, we rediscover a tribal integral awareness that manifests itself in a complete shift in our sensory lives....This new electronic environment itself constitutes an inner trip, collectively, without benefit of drugs. The impulse to use hallucinogens is a kind of empathy with the electronic environment." - Marshall McLuhan

I got a twenty-dollar bill that says‘no one’s ever seen you without makeup’.You’re always made up.And I’m sick of your tattoos, and the way you always criticize the Smiths and Morrissey. And I know that you’re a sucker for anything acoustic,But when I say let’s keep in touch,I really mean I wish that you’d grow up.This is the first song for your mixtape,And it’s short just like your temper,But somewhat golden like the afternoonsWe used to spend before you got too cool.

“The thing I’ve been noticing about myself is that I don’t make it clear what is important to me - because I don’t want to lose the connection or seem like I’m too much work to them. But then I become too much work for myself because I’m not being true to myself. It isn’t my job to judge what is “too much” for them. My job is to be completely honest with myself and let the other person respond honestly with who they are and what feels right to them. I must not shift, alter, or hide myself in order to experience love - because that’s not really love - that’s when resentment is born.”

I fLOVE Jenny Holzer!!! I took pictures of something that Peggy Guggenheim bought of hers and is in her museum in Venice, Italy… but I haven’t posted them on flickr yet… It is probably one of my favorite poems and it’s engraved into a park bench.
I should probably post them now, huh?juliemiller:sympathyfortheartgallery:maybeitsallok:

This is by Jenny Holzer, she has a pretty great gallery on her website of this style work from all around the world.
